The first blog post: Why I'm doing this

The decision to start a blog is usually selfish. The selfish desire to hear one's own voice or to drive some traffic to make some money.

This is likely the same for me here. Except for the money part. It's my outlet to publish my life and thoughts. Others may not care. Others might. Whether you care or not has no effect on my purpose here.

As I look back to my ancestors, and people from the past, without a written word, that person does not exist.

In some rare moments, I have looked at old letters of great grandparents I never knew, and my brain has tried to reach across the expanse of time to envision what things were like. I tried to envision them sitting at a desk with ink to pen. I wondered what their challenges were, if they had a midlife crisis, or whatever it was. And I wanted more.

Few will likely read anything I write here. But for me, this is therapy, and my effort to gain immortality of sorts. And it's for those I leave behind one day.

I'll occasionally write my few thoughts and experiences -- some random, some funny, some as deep as my brain will go, and some will include the lessons I've learned. It may be poignant, or not. I have no idea. But it will be what I see life like.

So, to life. Enjoy it. It passes rather quickly. Stick around if you want, or not, whatever you want to do. I'll be here.
